In an effort to standardize the way we manage and deliver our software; the Montana Tech IT Department will now be providing software installations via Software Center. 

Software Center will allow you to install MTech supported applications that you normally use without having to worry about administrative rights, or where to locate the software. 

In honor of Cybersecurity Awareness month, the IT Department encourages you to install KeePassan easy to use secured password manager that can be installed (and automatically updated) from Software Center.

Accessing Software Center and Installing KeePass

Step 1: To access Software Center from your MTech PC search for “Software Center” and select Software Center.

 

Step 2: Click on KeePass and then install the tool.

Software Applications and Updates that are available for your PC can be installed directly from Software Center without the need to contact the IT Helpdesk or administrative access.

 

Note:

 Some software and updates are device specific and the IT Department will be making more applications available over time.

Scheduling Work Hours for Reboot

You can schedule your work hours now using the Software Center to avoid any PC reboots during work hours.

 

Click on Options in the navigation bar and select your work/business hours. 

 

Generating Password Using KeePass

Step 1: Access Kee Pass by searching "Kee Pass" in the navigation 

 

 

Step 2: Open and select Tools then Generate Password


 

Step 3: Personalize the Password length (we normally want between 8-12 characters) and any other settings desired.

 

 

Step 4: Once personalized select Generate to compose a list (the example below is 8 characters long)
